Apparently this will "encouraging people people to take into account the impact of their choice of car climate change"

Of course, conveniently forgetting all those people who have a car already and can't afford either

Sounds like a damn good reason not to live there to me. The guy is a ####ing nutcase and is pretty blinkered in his outlook, does he think people will vote him again Surely not, and if they do screw it they'll get what they deserve.

Ken Livingstone was a major contributory factor as to why we left london.

The guy is a total twat, and this is just example of his stupid policies.

If he gets a third term as mayor, then i won't have any sympathy fr Londoners when he brings in his next crackpot tax that doesn't really benefit anyone.

The thing that worries me is not so much what happens in London, but the fact other councils around the country are starting to adopt their own congestion charges after seeing the success of the one in London as just another way to generate a bit more cash off motorists

Exactly!

Someone did a comparison of the environmental benefits of the Prius (including manufacture and shipping from Japan) that many MPs were selecting versus the Jaguars that they used to have.

IIRC it was several years before the Prius overtook the British made Jag. And of course both cars would be replaced every couple of years, so the for the MP the Jag was more "environmentally friendly"

Then there is the 'LEZ' (low emissions zone) area, which will effect commercial vehicles. Comes into effect in June / July 2008, covers about 85% of the area inside the M25. For vehicles that are not compliant with the emissions standard (which is based on Euro III and Euro IV emissions) there is a proposed charge of
