ADP - do you have the details of the guy in Southampton? I only live in Fareham so he would be handy.

The other place i thought of is Kwikfit as they seem to be advertising it on their radio adverts at the moment. the only problem is that the air con is also making a weird noise as though something is obstructing the flow somewhere. guess i need to get someone to look at it first!

Guy in our office had someone come to do it in the car park. He emailed around the office before booking to see if anyone else was interested in getting theirs done at the same time, and I think managed to negotiate a group discount. Worth a thought.

The air con cycle has a restriction (capiliart tube or orifice plate or TXV thermostatic expansion valve or any other number of restrictions) built into it to allow the process to work. This separates the high pressure liquid from the low pressure gas. It could be the liquid evaportaing as it travels through the restriction that you are hearing.
