Alfa 166
He's just buggered off for his lunch in it, and neglected to invite me.
If, for whatever reason, I needed a bigger car instead of the S (or could afford to run a bigger car as well as the S) then it would definitely be high up on my list of possibles.
It's handy that he (the IT Manager) has spent a lot of time working on Alfas, as it's all his mother's ever driven. At least the running costs would be lowered massively by getting him to do all of the (inevitably required) work on it for me.

Same engine as the one in my GTV. Tell your colleague to keep an eye on the oil - 1l per 1000miles is within tolerance
It will probably need new suspension bushes as well.
If he needs second hand parts, I spotted one of these in the boneyard a few weeks ago (http://www.autolusso.co.uk/)
There're some bits and bobs on http://www.gazzella.cc/cart.php?target=cat...category_id=342 - including exhausts which free up the V6 sound a little.

Forwarded the info to him. Cheers.
I would just post a link to this thread, but he might not take kindly to the suggestion that he can do all the work on my car.

He's back from his lunch now. Just heard him roar past the building.

I drove a 164 V6 for a while.
The torque steer was awful.

It would be.
The original idea was for the 164 to be very different from the Club of Four (or was that DAF/SAVIEM/MAN & Volvo?) mambers; the SAAB/Lancia and FIAT would be front drive; the 164 should have inherited the 75/90 driveline. But Alfa were too damn' poor.
Would be nice for some Alfa freak to do the job for them now!

I had one on hire a few years back. It was a 3.0 V6 with a manual box.
What a glorious sounding machine it was.
Even the brief 2 weeks of running it, the sunvisor broke off and the exhaust started to blow. I think that's what the Alfa dealer refers to as 'charm'.
Our accounts department was a bit surprised at themagnitude of my expenses for fuel though.
1500miles of fun.
Not had anything good fun for a while though.
