Default All LED headlights

I was listening to a Podcast of Material World on Radio 4 with two experts discussing LED technology.

One of the tall-foreheads mentioned that a production car with all LED headlights would be on sale in 2008.

My guess is it will be a Mercedes.

Anyone have any other ideas?

Some Audi concepts over the years have used all LED lights IIRC..

As in written evo recently about their longterm S5, they do look uber cool as running lights but how long will it be b4 Halfords is selling aftermarket kits for Saxos, Corsas et al..

can't understand why every 3rd car I pass drives with it's front fog lights on.. even often dim down their headlights as well..

fog lights don't provide any forward light..

that is why they are called fog lights..

is this a sort of fashion to copy cars with HID's, LED's etc?

it makes the car look lower and wider from the front. Helps offset the penis envy encountered when driving a sh177y Citroen, Peugeot, Vectra etc.

Does my head in... Nobhead lights obviously! I'm a fan of using some lights, sides or Xenons depending on the light as its safer but fogs are just not the done thing.. IMO

According to this week's Auto Express, the new diesel Audi R8 has all-LED lights. AFAIK this is a production model and not a concept..

The V12 diesel shown at the Detroit show is a concept, but the journos are saying that it is pretty much how it'll end up on ther road, so it may have leds all round.

I believe that Jordan McMurphy from Billericay was in fact, the first person to have all led lights on his Saxo 1.1 in 2002.

And whoever said that the R8/S5 running lights were uber cool
