Default Am i mad?

I do at lot of miles for work, get a decent allowance to run my own car, have a great s2k for fun.. Love it to bits. For work is a my08 diesel civic type s.. Have an opportunity to get a classic escort cosworth! Would be the daily drive. Want opinions if it would be worth the hassle!

As a depreciation proof asset yes (though putting daily driver miles on it won't help). As an iconic car if you're a fan of fast Fords yes. As a drivers car? There are far better options available for the price and less.

Personally I'd have have a Lancia Integrale.

Slower than the S in standard form.

Unreliable agricultural rust magnets. You'll be disappointed to the point of irritation as a daily driver. Bear in mind it's an early 80s (Sierra) chassis with an old school low comp (laggy) turbo engine.

If you've got an itch to scratch I suppose you have to do it...

Ahh the Escort Cosworth, sits proudly at the top of every scumbags "to steal" list.

Yes you are mad,as said above^if you use the cosworth as a daily it will deteriate really fast, imo they are a weekend toy only,I have always wanted one since the age of 15.and considered one before I bought the s2000.but a few people I spoke to warned me off them.unreliable, need around 350hp to be quick, even an owner at York dragway was saying how fragile they are,and he had owned cosworths for 12years.
I still think I will own one one day though :-))

My friend has one, lux pack. Classic ford car and I was shocked how much they are worth.

As for performance, we had a play along a long straight and we were neck and neck up to around 130mph, absolutely nothing in it. This was in my older MY00 S.

Like everyone has said depends why you want one. There are better drivers cars, and cooler cars honestly. Only car nuts love these to everyone else on the road your in a chavved up old Escort

All I will say is if it's a good enough price, you aren't going to lose money finding out if you like it unless it has a fault.
