Default Amazing Escape ...

BBC News story here. Talk about a lucky escape. Apparently both passengers got out the car themselves and were given first aid at the scene ...

Can anyone identify the car involved ?

I'm not sure whether the fact the car was cleaved in two so cleanly is a good or bad advertisement for Lexus ...

Would be interesting to find out if it was a clean car prior to the accident.

If you hit a pole (or tree) driven deep into the ground, the pole or tree always wins. And if you hit it at 90mph, the pressures involved must be huge.

I think it's a fluke. They should use those collapsing signposts I think to prevent this

I've seen this a couple of times - but the cars have fallen apart when removed from the tree or sign. If it hits the car at the right - or wrong - point it will go through it depending on speed involved. I had a 911 turbo v a tree years ago that was doing around 70 ... that wrapped itself around the tree and fell apart when removed. I guess as this was a sign it has just cut through. I think it would happen to any car in the right circumstances. Driver is lucky - hitting the pole a foot or two differently would have been fatal - literally.

I agree with both comments. I witnessed a car impact a motorway sign. Didn't dent the sign but unfortunately, the sudden stop killed the driver. He was only travelling at about 50-60.
