Another S2000 or have I missed something?
The RMS issue is a stupid one; apparently most cars are fine, but there are those in which it is a recurring problem. It really doesn't speak well of Porsche's machining tolerances, which is the only explanation I can come up with.
It's a small risk, but a nasty problem if you're unlucky.

Thanks all, again.
To be fair, I was aware of RMS - from what I understand it's not a massive issue and cars can go on for ages with the leak providing they're kept topped up and fixes can be cheap if clutch needs doing anyway. However, the sheer amount of problems or parts which seem to need replacing on a 70k miles Boxster (at significant cost) has put me off.
After having run a S2000 and being familiar with it's foibles, I'm more willing to venture down this route. The way I see it; worst that can happen is seized suspension which whilst may cost £1k to put right, is peanuts in context of car/performane and vs Boxster servicing/running costs. Engines seem sound providing topped up with oil and relatively low miles.
S2000 I believe it is. Just need to find one now.....!

Oh, and soft tops...
Seems minor in comparison to the above multiple issues seen across this board with Honda.
All fairly minor items, many of which were dealt with under the generous warranty. It's still 2 years with Porsche, IIRC.
And not uncommon amongst other cheap cars too.
The RMS is more stupid, because it's still a recurring problem.
Having said that, the last batch of S2000s DO seem to be worse than earlier ones. Were they being made by MG?

I've got to be honest here, I've been very very tempted by a vx220 turbo.
I decided to keep the S for the reasons pointed about above (boot, comfort etc), but I have an outstanding issue with the S not being quick enough - it is subjective. I have however got a supercharger which will 'tick' all my boxes - i love the car apart overall.
Though i dont have any faith getting the crank pulley off
so i may afterall look at getting a vx220 turbo and sell my s2k - i think i can live with the interior after driving an elise recently.

Maybe a bit of "end of the road" syndrome.
Almost as if the dedication on the soon to be ended production line rebounded.
And/or the equally loyal sub suppliers were sad to see the end.
The decision to stop was made some while in advance.
