Default Another speeding thread...

I've admitted to a speeding offence which happened in April this year in my company car. I have been in correspondence with the Safety Camera Partnership as the 30mph sign was obstructed by a tree branch. I was doing 41 in a 30, the change in limit is 50mph to 30mph but the signs where moved some time ago and its a road i dont use very often, so i was in the 30 limit half a mile before i thought it started.

After 4 letters and plenty of pictures of said branch (which was then cut down after my pictures were sent!) and then more pictures of the sign after the tree cutting, I filled out the driver details and received the details of the fine which had 28 days to be paid. After consulting a friend with a legal background, i decided to take my chances at court, especially since the tree was cut back after my letter yet they said the sign was not obstructed and the officer always checks signs before starting speed monitoring. So i didnt pay and thought i'd wait for a court date...

Still nothing... How long does it normally take?

On another note, I know we are all model drivers but i wonder out of all the automated speeding tickets each day, how many people actually challenge the ticket, even by just asking for photographic evidence. I have challenged 2 camera tickets in the past 3 years, and as a result i still have a clean licence... Maybe this time i wont be so lucky!

Incidently, in 2.5yrs of S ownership and 5 yrs of sports bikes, its always my company car that i seem to get caught in!

They may well have decided it's not in their interests to try and persue it.

If you've sent them photos, and the branch was cut back after the incident, they're peobably thinking it's not worth the risk of losing and having to pay costs when there are a dozen other drivers who have rolled over and paid the fine without complaint.

I hope (for your sake).

Something I have a bit of experience in They have six months to lay the info with the court and 3 years from the offence to send the summons though. However in the real world if you haven't heard anything after 7 or 8 months from the date of offense you should be ok.

Personaly I'd ring the court after the 6 months lapse and check if anything papers have been layed with your/your companies name on it

I was thinking that this might be a possibility, they would have to weigh up the evidence and decide if it is worth going to court if i actually have a reasonable case. If there is a chance a judge would side with me i suppose its not really worth them chasing a
