Default Aston Martin driving day.......help me decide

Okay, here's the deal. I recenlty purchased an Aston Martin driving day off paullec, and now I have the painstaking problem of choosing between two of the best looking cars on the road.

My choices are the Aston Martin DB9 and V8 Vanatge. So which of these two pieces of automotive pornography should I take out onto track?

The DB9
Engine - 6.0 litre V12
Power - 450bhp
Torque - 420 lb ft
Power to weight ratio - 263 bhp/tonne
Top Speed - 186mph
0-62 - 4.9 seconds

The AMV8
Engine - 4.3 litre V8
Power - 380bhp
Torque - 302 lb ft
Power to weight ratio - 242 bhp/tonne
Top Speed - 175mph
0-62 - 4.9 seconds

You decide

This driving day is booked with "Drivers Dream Days UK"

By all accounts the Vantage sounds phenomenal and it's a stunning car that I would normally give my right arm to drive...

But if there's a DB9 in the offing, you don't want to have driven the 'baby' AM. Plus, as loud as the V8 is, the V12 of the DB9 is a masterpiece.

Bloody nice choice you've got though!

Personally, i'd go with the V8 vantage as its the one i'm more likely to own one day.

You lucky, lucky b@stard!

Both very good points there guys.

I'm still not sure which one I should go with. I was under the impression that the V8 Vantage had a superb chassis, and was more suited to the track, and the DB9 is more of a grand tourer for a quick blast down to the Mediterranean.

Are you doing it at Bruntingthorpe, Jamie? Because if you are, I'd stick with the DB9, as Brunters is a very straightforward layout (it's not really a track, it's simply an airfield course) and has a two-mile straight and only six corners.

Maybe if it were a smaller track, the V8V would become a bit more of an option.

But the DB9 is just perfection, IMO, in the styling stakes! Imagine driving one... :sigh:

i like your thinking Dan

Not sure on which venue i'll go for tbh. Guildford is the closest, but I can't think of any kind of circuit out that way, with the exception of the runway Top gear use. I'll give them a call this week and find out some more details about the circuits they use.

Brunters isn't the most interesting track, but there are still a few interesting corners. V8 vantage hands down for me.

But if it was road driving, i might go for the DB9.

Either way, i'm still jealous.

moggy - basically I get to take someone elses Aston Martin out for a blast around a track. It's like one of those Red Letter day things. Calling it a Day is a bit much, as I'm only there for a few hours at most.
