Default Audi A4 Going , hurrah !

Audi A4. Going and good riddance .

So what next is the question. In that sector with a low BIK

Already had a brief look at the offerings from Toyota , bit cheap in side , but hybrids are what I would go for maybe , although already sort of moved them out of the equation .

Lexus , 200h , but poor reviews re ride and performance , in side quite nice, shitty parking brake system

BMW 320ED need to arrange 24 hour test drive

Mazda6 , shit sat nav by all accounts , shit electronic parking brake , nice Deisal , now a nice interior and Bose audio system , big car , 24 hour test drive has been offered with notice.

Any other ideas, MB A class is a pile of Poo by all accounts

No idea about BIK as I've never had a company car, I've driven many Lexus CT200 hybrids through work, did a 30 mile trip in one last week, drives really well, handles nicely, worth a test drive if this type of car interests you

Good discounts and classier than Bavarian Cortinas.

Is that the new Jag Nick? I read about their new factory and how they spent a fortune (including rather a lot on the painting end).

The germans havent been weaker for a while with the new 3 being a bit of a dag and VAG in danger of going sideways up their own arse as a resuly of some minor ish sneakery. It would be great to see some good engineering out of Solly Hull

Chip, make sure your missus is OUT of the car before the contract is fulfilled.

Requirements

Reasonable BIK as its a company car , don't want to subsidise all you tax dodgers to much
Reasonable performance , not blistering , don't want to hold others up
Reasonable fuel economy in the real world
Comfy and a reasonable place to be on a daily basis , the Audi has done 45k in just under 2 years
Have no badge snobbery , not bothered
A real handbrake would be nice but this seems like the holy grail now in all but shopping trolleys

Nick , XE so far has seemed expensive to lease , so sort of out at the moment.

Wife is out of car sort of prefers her little Jazz

A Prius ticks all your boxes.

I ran two Prius - a second and a third generation and covered c. 190K in both of them in 5 years.

The parking brake was never and issue; push it to engage, push it to dis-engage. Unless one is into handbrake turns, it was perfectly functional, and it allowed uninterrupted space for a useful storage compartment twixt front seats.

My average fuel economy was c. 60 mpg, the Prius is very relaxing to drive, it is very handy in the snow and very reliable; they were the only two cars I have run which never had a spanner on them for anything other than routine servicing.

Alas the current Prius is much better looking than the new version.

I will very likely have another.
