Why did they all have the lights on when it was such a bright sunny day?I found it quite odd, maybe it's an electrical fault that leads to fires............................

I think they're great looking cars
Trouble is, they look too much like the TT, and for that money, you could have an Aston...

According to Parkers, the Aston will hold its value better too...

Not all convinced by the TT on steroids and in lycra running shorts type design, personally. It's striking, I suppose, not especially pretty.

Not a popular view I know, but I'm not a fan of Astons, they do nothing for me.

I think the R8 is pretty good value for what it is, especially compared to the AM V8 which by many accounts is rather overrated. Not sure I'd buy one for that money though, probably go for a used Gallardo.

To answer Ikobo's original question;

several minutes after the fire brigade arrives.

as well

Never been a fan of the styling of the TT, so the R8 doesn't do anything for me either.

I have to agree.

Main problem I have with the R8 is it kind of remids me what a modern NSX might be like, if Honda could stop vacillating long enough.

Perhaps I should clarify.

I actually quite like the styling of the new TT (the old one just shrieks "Beetle" at me) and the R8 isn't bad, it's just that the two are so similar. It means the R8 is nothing special, although I suppose it helps the TT if it looks a bit like the R8, and that's where Audi will make its profit.

It's the same with Audi's normal cars. They all look the same, just getting bigger...

Add in the very high w@nker quotient that Audi now has (higher then BMW IMO) and it makes it not very appealing. The R8 is even more of a footballers' car than the Aston, which is not good.

Here's why I like the Aston

My dislike towards the TT was down to three simple factors.

1. The under pinnings are based on a mk4 Golf (not the greatest start).
2. The engine range was very weak. The early 1.8's didn't have enough power, and the later 3.2 V6 was so heavy it only cut the 0-60 time by .2 second, gave you an extra 20bhp, but only an increase in top speed of 15mph over the 1.8 T quattro. Yet there was a massive hike on the price.
3. The design was so lazy. Audi only had to design one corner of the car, and then mirror it twice to get the final design. That and the fact it looked like a lower VW Beetle.

Sorry but to me they are iPods of the car World. Style over function. Don't know anything about the new one tbh, so I can't/won't comment.
