I pretty much concur with Gad's & LG's takes as usual.

It's a growing market though; it'll be interesting to see how the 911 actually fares, with rivals from Acura, Aston Audi, Ferrari, Nissan et al, entering over the next few years.

Personally, still only really like the old NSX, though!

It does seem to fulfil many of the 'new NSX' requirements.

Those LEDs are pathetic, though.

Great to see them all make a mess of the 911 thingy!

I actually think the R8 might be the final beginning of the end for the 911

Rumours that BMW and Mercedes may also produce something mid-engined before long
I thought the Cayman already started the ball rolling? With the 3.6 engine I suspect it would wipe the floor with any Carrerra S laptime.

I like the idea of a mid engined porsche coupe, but the rear of the Cayman is horrid, IMO. Still if it had the 987S engine I'd have one I think.

I think the r8 looks stunning on the road. It really does look special. I would have a couple of reservations about buying one and its mainly the 911 c4s or the gt3. Although list is 77k most seem to come out at 85 + with perceived essential options. Id have to take a gt3 at that kind of money. The other reservation is I cannot understand how the speculators are getting the premium on this car with a v10 around the corner, or is it a case of rich folk not knowing anything about cars and parting with their money to get the latest fashin accessory?
It looked stunning around the top gear track on last nights show.

TBH I don't think they'd care.
If it pulls a few people out of F430's .. they are ahead over all.

After seeing quite a few of the R8's looking like the bastard child of a Bugatti Veyron and an Audi TT, I saw one yesterday in dark Blue all over.

Wow, all traces of the Veyron were gone and I was able to see it in it's own right. Test drive will be booked soon.

They were testing the V10 engined R8 again at the 'ring on Friday.

I cannot tell you how good this car sounded, and we could hear it coming long before we saw it.

It was doing very consistent ~8.05 laps.
