Thumbs down Averaging Cameras SPECS 3

http://www.pocketgpsworld.com/SPECS3-avera...beware-4807.php

As many mentioned on here last year, if this gets funded it's the begining of the end.

Bikes won't be safe either with rear facing ANPR.

SPECS will be networked to cover whole towns or roadways, not just multi-lane pairs.

Almost time to hang up the keys, or at least fit that solenoid operated plate folding device.

Yup; I also think that it's only a matter of time before extracting pleasure from driving on public roads is dead. I'm making the most of it now before we are all forced either into 15hp GeeWizzaLike mobiles or back onto the non-functional public transport network.

I'm ok because I live in a part of the country full of b-roads, and my daily drive is 3 miles at 30mph. I would consider giving up driving if I had a long commute across roads covered in SPECS cameras though.

How likely is it that you exceed the posted limits over long distances though in practice?

Not very often I suspect - for this to be a real problem, you would have to have specs at regular intervals and every single junction.
I can't see that happening, as the investment required would be enormous when the govt has plenty opther things to spend (or not spend) money on right now.

I often drive 150 miles to Inverness from Edinburgh - you are doing very well if you can do that trip in under 2.5 hours. 2.5 hours is 60 mph, when the limit on that trip is 70 for about 55 of the 150.

But surely it's not the overall average, but the average between cameras?

If so, on your Inverness to Edinburgh trip you could exceed the limit between cameras enough to lose your licence, while still maintaining an overall average of 60mph.

I haven't even covered 3k in the last 6 months. Which for me is barely anything given I was doing 20+ a while back.

Just hate driving anywhere now. Nice to get in the Maser and have a good drive every now and then but little else.

Yep, costs a fortune and will catch people who are watching where they're going rather than their speedo.

How much actual crime would be prevented by using the money on empoying traffic police.....or any police.

The immigrants & much of the globes' human shit are already here in the waiting room called Calais.
Together with every weird sicko minority with their arrogant big mouths getting their way, and a corrupt government, I'm glad I'm 63 years old and hopefully not having to tolerate much that I see about me for too much longer.
What happened to pride in ones country and not being ashamed to aspire to retaining a sense of pride and a purity in keeping all things British.

You're kidding euan, right?

I do 1-2K a week as a travelling engineer, at all hours and days of the week.
This is my worst nightmare!
