Lets face it, HD isn't a big issue. The Beeb could show the race a week late, in black & white, with the commentary in Hungarian and it would still be better than ITV, 'cos it won't have Martin Allen's babble to ruin it.

What about Fan commentators like sky sports football. A double act of Chilled and Dembo or Bada and Carper.

It's only the recent ITV incarnation that's been a bit crap.

Using "The Chain" (or at least the end bit from The Chain) is just a BBC gimmick to play on nostalgia. Again it makes me think they're going to do it on the cheap. It's a great piece of music, but I have the album. I don't need to hear it on TV.

 

As far as I am concerned coverage on the BBC can't be anything other than significantly better than ITV simply because they have the luxury of not destroying each an every race with half a dozen commercial breaks.

If ever there was a sport which does not lend itself to commercial TV, F1 is it.

The 'expert' team of Brundle / Coulthard / Jordan also has great promise.
