13s? I hope so - it needs two new fronts, and the smaller the wheels, the cheaper the tyres

Had a bit of a panic last night when filling the tank to the brim caused a puddle under the car and a small trail of petrol behind me

Turns out it was just a corroded breather pipe. I bet the old boy never filled it full - it only did 200 miles a month after all!

Cost me

Thats the way to do it, automatic.

Defo the way forward for beaters. Flick it into D and enter "Limo Mode"

Well worth the loss of 4mpg to waft around stress free. This one has cruise control too which I love for dual carriageway driving and long boring 30 zones.

Been out in it today and it's a really nice car. Dull!, but a nice, and comfortable waft machine.

(Added bonus - because it only has a tape player, Amanda wants to use it to listen to all her old tapes for the next few weeks and I get to use the ATR as my commuter Result!!!!!!! )

My winter beater project went all wrong.

I guess the idea is to buy something, practical, frugal, sensible, low insurance etc......

I've ended up with something more like a Top Gear challenge car.

But, hey, it's good fun!

Think it's probably a "keeper" if it behaves.

What's 145,000 miles between friends?

That the 1.9? Looks like it with those alloys. Christ i used to love those. Ended up with one & boy was it a pile of shit...................had a slight front end 'bump' that i hadn't been aware of..........& like a spacker never bothered asking the dealer if it been in a shunt.
It was only when my pet grease monkey started laughing & pointed out the front wheels were out of lateral alignment by about 2" that i found out some twat had welded the front end on to another car..........oh the huberis of youth & the trials of buying a cut & shut.
Didn't stop me driving it for a few hundred miles until the steering column sheared. That was funny............hitting a fecking fence at 45 while trying to steer the car with nothing but a stump for a steering wheel wasn't though.

Nice one with the Galant. Always had a soft spot for them.
