You need to weigh it versus your options. It's not THAT practical. For practical we bought a golf gtd and it's that. Servicing every 2 years, 45 mpg and low depreciation. Wipe clean leather .

An 08 is c11k though, you could get the Skoda/seat equivalent

I've heard rx8s drink fuel and oil but your mileage may render that pretty irrelevant, it would be a better drive than the golf.... Swings and roundabouts...

it's worth £3K max and going down

that would offset the fuel consumption

I have no idea what they are like to live with

odd things that don't excel at anything with a flawed engine

no wonder no-one wants one

The 4 people i know who had one all struggled to give them away at less than market price - bordering on white elephants unless they're beater money.

If I was considering an RX8, I'd buy a Subaru IYSWIM.

Beware engine problems, heavy depreciation and fuel/ oil costs (yes, relative to S2000).

It's definitely *not* a family car, very much a sports coupe with excellent handling. 230bhp is almost as quick as an S2000.

Sold mine due to reliability issues. Lost £13000 in the process.

My 2p...

I've driven both the 231bhp high spec and the 192bhp. I think it's a really nice looking car and handles well, especially the 231. There isn't much between speed between the 231 and the S, marginally slower, not as much fun to drive as the S as they don't rev as high. The 192 is left in an s2K's dust. I trust the RX8 more than my S, but that's probably due to the traction control!

Much more modern interior on the RX8 and nice wheels!Mattalic paint is a good finish, particularly the red with gold flecs.

I would imagine putting a baby seat in would be more difficult than an ordinary dull family car, but I can't think of any nicer sporty 4 doors. My dad has the 231 and there was a problem with flooding on a short journey but it was quickly sorted and no probs since.

Fuel is not great but then if you want a sports car....

Depreciation is pretty bad on the RX8, but at the same time you can get your hands on a bargain.

Exactly right.

A truly lovely drive, but a Honda Prelude is in fact far more practical; fwd/4ws, big boot, folding rear seats & no tranny tunnel.

As mentioned before.

Get a Honda Accord 2.4 Type S, easily get a good condition / low mileage one for that budget.
