1600kg? And that boot line is weaker than British Rail tea.

it should have been a winner, the E46 M3 is a stunning looking machine, but the new one looks weak weak weak. And it's even lardier than the old one.

No doubt it'll be a roaring success, but I think they have missed the mark.

Well compared to the pics that were floating around about 18 months ago they have improved the looks in my opinion. The last ones were dog awful, those above I quite like.

Nothing to get excited about as far as I can see.

It's another 3 series with a few bodywork changes, a big engine and 80% probability of a twat behind the wheel.....

Hmm, let me be the lone dissenter in the crowd...

I think it's spot on. If it DOES come with the CF roof and the CSL-esque wheels, with that bonnet bulge and the quad pipes, that's all I want from my M car. Think back to all of them - E60 M5, E63 M6, E39 M5, E46 M3... none of them were lairy.

I happen to love the looks of the Coupe anyway and in Interlagos Blue or Imola Red this thing will be phenomenal.

But then I AM a bit of a BMW fan... shameful, I know!

It gets a from me.
I agree, think it looks spot on.

The RS4 is a nice car, but if it wasn't for the alloys and ever so slightly muscular wheel arches it would look like any old Audi A4 TDI Sline.

All the doubters of the 3 series coupe need to see one in the flesh... a good one.

My dad has got a 335d with 19" alloys in the same colour as the M3 above and it looks fantastic.

I was pretty critical of the new coupe when I first saw it, but in the flesh with some nice alloys it looks gorgeous.

It's more grown up than the previous coupe and larger too. It's interesting to see the new Audi A5 coupe, which looks very similar to the 3 series.

Will be a good battle - Audi RS5 Vs BMW M3.... Audi are allowing the customer to dictate the setup of their new A5 e.g. rear bias or front bias... that's a pretty cool option.

The one thing I will give it, is I've heard the engine note of the new V8. more sonorous than the metallic edged straight six of old. Much fruitier, but not quite as deep as the RS4. Either way it's a trouser re-arranger of a note.

Heh, good on you Mole, you've put a deposit on the E92 M3 I take it? Good car.

Moff - the E92 is indeed a fabulous looking car, there was a 335i SE taking on an E46 M3 Convertible Individual through Bracknell yesterday afternoon and I preferred the newer car. So elegant at the back - it looks like the 6-Series should have... and I LIKE the 6-Series as well!

Chilled - did you go to Geneva and hear the new V8 on the stand?
