Botched Renault Dealer Service
Today I had to service the Renault R26 so went to a main dealer in the area,
S.J. COOK & SONS, WESTON SUPER MARE
01934 414007
BUSHACRE BUSINESS PARK
LOCKING ROAD
BS22 8NL
Just detailing the car tonight after having it serviced today and thought I would inspect the work, check levels etc.
I now see that the oil filter has NOT been changed.
I have been charged too, obviously and its due every oil change.
It's ticked off on the check sheet by the mechanic too.
The filter is filthy dirty and water marked and the lip is rusty, obviously untouched this service.
All the surrounding area is the same.
What a bunch of thieving scumbags.
I pulled the service desk bloke at collection as they cheekily added about £9 to the bill for fuel additive (cleaner).
This is on a 20K mile car and were adamant it was mandatory.
I know what I think and told them so, and will also check this with Renault UK tomorrow.
But, just like the BS with 'screen wash topup' and 'sundry items' we all know its a load of money making cock.
Anyhow, I think I will talk with RUK tomorrow initially.
But given this is so obviously deception on either the part of the dealer, or the mechanic, what's the best approch to get me the best outcome?
It will be too easy to let them off the hook and just let them put it right.
Out of principle I wont allow this as I want head(s) to roll for conning me.
It means at best another trip of 50miles and the main element is my time.
And after this, would you want these idiots near you new car?
Any other options (legal ones please) or ideas much encouraged!
Regards,
S.

Nightmare Steve.
I'd have a word about those scrapes on the front bumper too
Hope you get some luck out of Renault, but from what I can work out they are at the bottom end of the scale in terms of customer cooperation

I do have over 12m dealer waranty which I need to keep current given the 'perceived' reliability issues on some Renos.
I'm a bit 'firey' shall we say with dishonest people, so need a calm objective approach here.
It begs the big question though "What else did they NOT do?"
I want a refund in full and then to take it elsewhere but wonder if this is a reasonable ask.
Also desire compensation for my time and travel, hard to quantify.
My confidence in them is now zero.
It'll all come down to whether you can prove that they have not done the work.
If you can prove this without any doubt then you will have them bang to rights. I personally couldn't continue using that dealer, I'm sure you're the same.
I'd also be on the telephone with Trading Standards. Some people don't hold them in high regard, but they helped me a lot when I had an almighty wrangle over a Clio with a Renault specialist. In my opinion it was TS that was the straw that broke their back.
Don't forget to take photos and gather as much evidence you can to strengthen your case.

Unfortunately Steve, I don't think you'll get anywhere with them. I know it's no help, but almost exact same thing happened to my mate with his Discovery. They blamed it on a YTS lad, but as we all know, YTS are supervised at all times.
These dealers are full of sh1t and they'd never be allowed near my car.

No less.
