Default Cadwell ARDS

So I can safely say, if you want to take your ARDS test, don't do it at Cadwell.

First question in the briefing - 'has anyone not been to Cadwell before?'

Answer - 'I haven't' with an idiotically stupid smile

Response - 'you're brave'

Internal thought - bollocks

God that track is technical, after three sighting laps and far too much information running through my brain, the instructor said the fatal words...... I'm assessing you now......

So two laps more, overtaking two M30's an Alfa with the funny headlights and a Impreza, getting mullered by a Radical and a Caterham R400 and getting it very sideways through the Gooseneck, I came into the pits.

Now think through the situation, I was relatively quick yet pretty scruffy, so I had to ask the question....... 'how did I do?'

Answer - 'your fine, quick but you need to be smoother on the throttle.'

Thank f**k I passed but that track is a belter - numerous trackdays would only get you close to getting it right!

Congrats Rich. What series you planning on racing in?

It's the scene of my only track incident. Great track though. But no room to get it wrong.

I'd like to do my ARDS at Donington, if I only because I know it so well.

Look - a feckin monkey could pass ARDS.

Passing wind is harder.

Try it on a bike. Love the not so straight straights though.

Nice one and congrats Rich. Interesting you post about the speed / overtaking. From what I've heard it's more the manner and smoothness they are interested in - do you think you may have added a little bit of extra complexity by trying to be so quick? Just a thought
