Gad forget about polishing the pipes etc etc, you need to get yourself some legal number plates. Old Bill will pull you in a shot if you drive that thing around like that.

It's faster than an E46 M3 straight line and a higher top speed (unrestricted)

And I would put no money on an M3 being any quicker on bendy roads

They are like a little brother

Try hard, but always the little brother

It has a lot more power (bhp and torque) without being massively heavier

The M3 is no lightweight

Well it's understandable, it needs to be faster cos the "older folk" so it can get you back to your pipe and slippers quicker

I will let you all know if anything interesting gets the better of me
I'm still getting used to this thing and haven't got around to playing with the sports setting yet

Saw an 03 Boxster S hogging the outside lane tonight on some bendy d/c, so decided to move a bit closer and see if he got out of the way

Response was fairly typical - speeding up but staying in the outside lane

Why do people do that???

But no stupid speeds involved

I think the speed with which I was able to close the gap (and it might have had something to do with the main beam flash ) gave the driver a bit of a shock

He did then move over

Not sure how much it has to do with any driving ability I have

I think it's down to the car being a lot faster and more capable than many people (self included) realise

Well maybe I knew enough about the grunt, but I didn't appreciate just how well it handles

Guy in my office was saying he does use sports setting out of town, but in town is makes throttle too jerky - he said it's a shame that you can't separate the 3 things it changes (can't remember what they were) but definitely recommended sports setting generally.

is it carbon or sapphire black?
carbon black

I will try and get around to polishing those pipes one day......

had the BMW checkover today:

apparently the rear brakes need pads in a couple of thousand miles (no attempt made to sell)
the steering box needs very slight adjustment
there is a tiny oil leak

all of which can wait till the next service apparently (brake pads may be the exception)

the car was checked over througout and all fluids topped up as necessary - total cost

Well, it's nearly two years now.

Must be time to reflect again.

Since the last really detailed report, quite a lot has happened.

First of all, servicing and repairs. If I say

Good read.

Hope that the peacock doesn't take a fancy to your paintwork

They do a bit of damage apparently!

I thought it was an action shot.

Doesn't that peacock meet its maker a fraction of a second after the snap was taken?
