Default A car for me in the not too distant future

I'm thinking about what car I need in future, I want to think far enough ahead to start saving. Could be a 1 to 2yr plan.

Factors to consider:

Income not likely to change considerable in the next couple of years.
Just married, so children are a possibility in the not too distant future
Usually just me, sometimes me and "the wife", occassionally mum / grandma chauffeured around (but a hire car would be a possibility for those situations)
Live in London so car will not driven every day (unless situation changes), but long trips are a possibility (ruling out small car / small engine)
Kept on the street - again, may change but unlikely

I could keep the current car, save up and get a toy (S2000, Caterham, Elise etc) but that would be two cars parked on the street, with inherant security and parking issues as well as the impracticalities of running two cars in London

Things which are currently tempting me

Audi RS4
Audi RS6 (estate)
Porsche 911
AMG Merc
Mini
Abarth 500

BTW I am not about to go and spend £90k on a 911, or similar on a C63AMG etc. These would be used. £12-15k gets you the RS6, but that's not necessarily the budget.

Any suggestions? Does anyone have experience of the cars I've listed

Current car is an Alfa 156 GTA

A few more letters.... BMW Z4MC

Do what i did and buy one with an airbag disable switch and you have a family car (albeit with only two seats )

Agreed, BMW M5 can be had now for less than £30k and only a 2007 with low mileage. For the performance, you can't knock it.

And look, there is quite a nice one at S2KUK's favourite garage!

£24k with less than 40k miles and a 2005. Proper sleeper car and most people are unlikely to know what it is. In London this is probably a good thing.

Good call and I had missed that.
Not too fond of the looks of the current (about to be replced model), potentially previous model (that I did like) may be too old by the time of purchase though.

Don't worry about what it looks like you'll be inside it listening to the screaming V10

And it comes in Estate versions if you need the extra space
