I'd have let him go aeons ago. I imagine his joyless public persona is an indicator of his work one too; he must suck the joy out of living for his colleagues.

McLaren is NOT one company;
McLaren F1 (race team)
McLaren GT (Race teams)
McLaren Special Operations (specials, F1 road car support and customisation, ofetn called MSO)
McLaren Technology Group (the bit Ron is trying to but)
McLaren Automotive (produces the road cars)
McLaren Applied Technologies (partnership with Glaxo developing and selling new technologies)

Yep not inspirational
But he has very little to do with day today
Problem is he is a 25% share holder of many of the companies
Though I think the other share holders are losing patience with him
