Civic
I'm trying to work out whether to buy a new type S or an imported type R from Bob Gerrards, they both work out at the same price.
My dilemma is: I cannot afford to change my car that frequently and therefore will need to live with this new car for the next 3 years. In the next year I need to consider buying a flat/house as I only rent at the moment. Would I get fed up with the type R over the next 3 years and would I be better off with the comfort of the type S and the reduced costs involved?
Would an extra 30 BHP be that noticeable over my civic sport? Have always wanted a type R but wonder whether I would be better off settling for the happy medium!
Any advice would be helpful

Do you really think the S will be significantly more comfortable than the R? The R will no doubt hold its value better than the S, and you'll have more fun driving it every day.
For the same money it's very difficult to understand why you'd choose the lesser model.

Norton Way had two Type Ss fully loaded in the showroom.
It's hardly statistical, but I suspect they've bombed.
But I cannot get excited over an fn Civic any more.
I'd save yer money & buy an old S2000 and a flat.

I lost a lot of money when I traded my second CTR in for the S2000 and it was only two years old!! I don't know if it would make a difference trading in an imported CTR against trading in an Civic Sport. I should expect there isn't too much difference in the maintenance costs but that can always be checked at your local Honda dealer. The CTR is cheaper to maintain than the S2000 and the insurance is also cheaper.
Performance wise, there is no question, I would always go for a CTR against a Civic Sport. Much more fun.
Especially round a track.

The new Civic type R is only really a VTI anyway.
The comfort over performance (UK available) type R's came in with the demise of the DC2 R (Integra), EK9 R (only real Civic type R) and NA1 R (NSX not available in the UK anyway).
Drive one and you will see.
They are just normal hot hatches now
