Default Civic gone haywire

Hay all
My other half posted this in another forum any idea's

Weird door problems
Hi all, I just got my first civic type R.

My car has started doing some weird things:

When I press unlock the alarm lights flash but the doors do not unlock.
When in the car I press unlock on the door and they relock themselves straight away.
If the drivers door is open it keeps trying to lock until you close the door.
Pulling up the lock does the same on the drivers side.

The passenger side seems ok.

The remote fob is ok at locking they car but unlocking seems to have gone mad.
When I sat in the car and pressed unlock it does the boot but doors don't respond.

Any idea's?

Cheers all

I agree, had this in an astra many moons ago, its probably not sticking in its unlocked position. To test it swap the pas side one in if theyre the same.

Hi there both
it does not even seem to try and unlock with the remote but the bouncing all around is new.

Will i be able to disconnect power to one of the locks and see if it solves the problem?

I read something about holding down lock for a few seconds and this might reset the locking mech but dont know how true that is.
Think i will get the door cards off today.

my poor partner is gutted that two days later the car is not working properly.
Cheers

I also read that the very first thing to try is the batteries in the Fob.
Is there a special way to do this with the two button same as the 2003 'S' or just quick swap over.
cheers

Does it work on the key?

On my astra there was a small actuator box and that failed, it used to click like made sometimes, like it couldnt quite open.

I'd check the state of the car battery too; that caused weird sh it on my 'Lude like that.

I put up with it a long time, since it was the 12 YO OEM Panasonic battery (!) which refused to die.

However, I'd also check the state of the alarm PCB/Canbus in general. This may be related to your interior light weirdness.

Hi all
So i went out to the car last night to check some things and everything was completly normal without fault.
Im hoping its not the start of hunting for an intermittant problem.

So far the speedo stopped.
interior light stopped.
door locks went mad.

The car has got some gaudges on the A pillar and i wonder if someone has interupted something when intslling them.
If things happen again i will firstly remove those just to be safe.

Weird
