Default Clamps

My Passat (beater) is clamped in the car park... We have private off street parking... I have two permits for both my cars... I have a visitors permit and a residents permit... However the Residents permit still has the old car reg plate number on it.... It's such a hassle to go and get a new one I have been putting it off... I have been swapping the permits over for a couple of months now......... Leaving the visitors permit on the car I leave at home and taking the dodge permit with me.... Well I got busted this morning, both cars were at home.... When I went to use the Passat for a Homebase and B&Q run I found it had a nice big yellow clamp on the wheel... I am off work Tuesday so will have to go and get a new permit...

Now the thing is.... I only use my Passat very occasionally so was thinking of not paying the clamp and putting a valid permit in the window for some time........ If I put a permit in the window... It is actually legally parked... So can they remove the car for non payment of the clamp? The car is taxed and MOT'd so it wont be violating any parking regulation....

I am guessing they have a limited number of clamps... So this one being stuck to my car till winter means it wont be making them any more money.....

I could just pay the

Is it Wndsworth council or a landlord/private clamping co that has got you.

I find Wandsworth can be OK, I've got off a few fines and they issue temp permits etc when changing cars. I learnt my lesson the hard way many years ago, forgot to pay a ticket and it doubled then posted a cheque that got lost (honestly) then forgot to send the replacement etc etc. ended up with a debt collector clamping the car and paying about
