I am not very technical, but is this what I am seeing:

Right valve opens and lets fuel in, pistonhead compress's and then the spark plug ignites the mixture, pistonhead goes back down and teh left valve opens to let out the fumes?

Moff yes that is what your seeing, inlet valve opens letting in fuel/air mix, piston compresses the mix, spark, combustion, exhaust valve opening on the downstroke.

 

Bit of a slow revving engine.

Amazing to think how many times/second that happens!!!! The more you think about it the more it messes with your head!

I was watching "The Garage" earlier today - a very good one too.. He had the head off a fiesta and talked through this showing all of the charring where it had overheated. Like that show when they actually teach me something.

The other car featured was a 944 getting a new gearbox and clutch. Again very very interesting assembly. PITA getting it all out and a interesting layout..
