Default Current Integra Type R - Import only?

You know the current Integra Type R, can that only be sourced by importing one?
I'm thinking about it being my next car after the S2000 but never considered import cars before.

Any thoughts on the pro's and cons of the Integra and importing in general?

Thanks.

They were import only when new (stopped making them now). There are plenty of them already in the country if you don't want to wait for a s/h one to be imported for you.

Honda UK said the reason they never sold them was that they would take away sales from the UK built CTR.

Chris.

Not only take away sales, they would make the CTR feel fat, underpowered and show up the handling even more.

ITR being lighter, more powerful (~30BHP) and has a LSD as well I believe???

(And cheaper!).

Probably 'too focused' would be a Salesman patter.

feckin brilliant everyone else would say...

Yup i'd not have a DC5 (Integra) over a FD2 (Civic)

I had a DC5. Nice car and has a lot of plus points over the S but it made me realise FWD is not for me.

I'd not have one over a DC2!

The market's far too small for Honda to be able to bother with it. They tried it with the DC2 and didn't like it.

I would agree.

The DC5 engine is superb though, where the little 1.8 190 bhp 5 speed is frustrating as hell.

Modified, they are superb and don't feel like a FWD car.

Nah, part of its charm is that one drives it like one's trying constantly to break that sweet little engine!

I had a chance to drive a highly modded DC2 the other week and tbh it blew me away.

Corner entry speed was alarming, and the steering feel/weight was spot on. You can buy a decent DC2 for 5k, spend say another 6k on tweaking it as required and you have a machine capable of humbling most cars on track . True it will be very raw on the road but that has never bothered me anyway.

For that money i could sell the S, pocket a few grand and build the car. Seems a very tempting option.
