DTM @ Brands
Went to Brands yesterday for the DTM. My first time at Brands - I had no idea there was such an elevation change! Paddock Hill bend looks awesome - I'll definitely be fitting in an evening track session later in the summer.
DTM - well, they're bloomin quick (lapping the indy circuit at >100mph). The racing though - a bit of fun at the start, and fun at the end, but the middle 90 laps - meh.
I presume the lack of overtaking and argy-bargy is a combination of;
Drivers all at the top of their game
Cars all very similar performance
Sheer cost of cars meaning people are very respectful of eachother
It's also quite a tight circuit for cars travelling that quickly.
Either way - the actual racing was much more entertaining from Lotus-on-track and the VW Challenge - predictibly.
Now - Euro-NASCAR. Ummm. Well they look pretty unsophisticated, largely on account of them being just that. They make a great noise, but they're clearly way too big for Brands. They also only seem to be able to go fast in a straight line - it was very much Throttle down the straights, creep round corner, straighten up and go. To illustrate this - they were lapping in the same time as the sciroccos and loti.
I'm sure they work in the giant american oval bowls. But I wouldn't wnt to watch them do 500 miles!
Good day in all - despite the slightly miserable weather!
