Impreza is not a great choice in the current climate with it's terrible thirst for SUL and it's high CO2 affecting the road tax prices. Depreciation will also get worse given the above.

Mark we had an E46 320d touring which was plenty big enough until no3 came along. I'd really recommend one. If you're a magazine junkie there's an E90 buying guide in BMW Car that's just come out. I didn't like the E90 as much as the E46 which felt a bit more solid, but they are good. If too big try a 120d
