Default Electric cars

With fuel prices becoming completely insane I find myself seriously considering getting that bike I've been thinking about and an alternative powered car as a beater.
Partly as a cost saving, and partly as a protest.
Now it could just be a phase I'm going through. But is there a real workable alternative out there, aside from the tesla, ( if only ) that is actually worth considering?

It's proven possible to make a good, appealing, and usable electric car.

So why aren't people doing it ?

I think there has been another thread on this point. The "phase" has been established as a "mid life crisis", has it not?

I'm considering the sale of my S2000 on the basis that (a) I hire a caterham with Lower on track days; and (b) I have my CBR which is more rewarding as it is a steeper learning curve. However, I'll get hacked off driving around in some eurobox

EDIT: Plus I know that if I don't have a sportscar, I'll end up doing something stupid like putting a deposit on a car like the Ginetta in my avatar.

Sounds like a very good reason to get rid.

You'll be out on the bike more too - double the mileage on it

I can understand people in Smoke buying those for the free buzz & parking.

Other than that, anything electric/hybrid is so 1899 you might as well change your name to Ebeneezer Goode & start dressing like Chris Eubank.

While I agree, the really annoying this is, it doesn't have to be.
The Tesla has proved that
It's very frustrating.

Don't get me wrong.
I don't give a monkies about the environment I think it's all (mostly) balls. But I am pi$$ed off that the technology seems to be being held back. Probably by the oil companies.
Conspiracy theory ?

Anyway... That's my problem.
I want to have my fun and avoid buying fuel at
