Thumbs up Engine Sensors

As part of my Mech Eng degree i have been asked to identify as many engine based sensors as possible. The engine has to be of the supercharged variety. Not having much of an automotive background i reached for the text books and found the following 'general' sensors:

1 MAF sensor
2 O2 sensor
3 Throttle Pos sensor
4 RPM sensor
5 Coolant Temperature sensor
6 Intake Air Temperature sensor
7 MAP sensor
8 Exhaust gas pressure sensor
9 Knock sensor
10 Gear position sensor
Any more???

In addition to the above, what other sensors are required, given i should consider a SUPERCHARGED engine. I cant think of other variables that would require sensing
Any help much appreciated!

Crank pos / angle sensor.
Oil pressure.
Fuel pressure.

Dont think many monitor ex gas pressure.

If you need help in what they all do, I can help with basics.

Have a look on the technical FAQ for a comprehensive list of of the S2000 fault codes including ALL the sensors.

On top of that the only other I cna think might be on a SC car are

SC output pressure, after cooler inlet temp, after cooler outlet temp, Inlet manifold pressure.

MAF and MAP do the same job I think (same as an AFM).
You don't *need* a lot of these ..

Air temp - Pre SC, Post SC / Pre IC, Post IC - (will let you know how efficient the cooler is)
Air Pressure - Post IC (in the TB)
Fuel - Pressure, Injector duty
Water - Temp
Oil - Temp, Pressure
Engine - TPS, RPM, Knock, Timing (Crank angle)
Exhaust - O2 (x2 one in the cat), EGT

MAP and MAP are similar, same in what they intend to do. One uses a hot wire sensor to determine air flow, the other is a pressure sensor.

You have repeated the rest of them though?!

And an AFM is often a huge flap ..

Yeah, I was just working through them all in my head and jotting them down trying to not forget any .. I didn't wanna look at what others wrote as I'd forget others.

Ah

I think Audi and BMW have about 50 odd more sensors than us if you want to look at that Fizzle.

Fat, bald, middle aged, company car driver sensor.
Non working indicators sensor.
Lane weaving sensor.
75mph in the outside lane sensor.
Unfounded superiority complex sensor.

Seems to be the main ones on modern Audi/BMWs I come across.
