The left lane is the fast lane in NL too

I think part of the problem stems from the use of the term "fast lane". People who tend to hog lanes always make reference to this... Any lane other than the far left lane should be called "overtaking lanes" or "passing lanes" because that's what they are there for! It still blows my mind that motorway driving/education has never been part of the driving test! (I think that's changing soon though)

A thought provoking article.

Many of the middle lane hoggers explained they drove there to avoid effort down the road to overtake vehicles in the inside lane. Worse still, some said it was because they were moving at the speed limit so no one should be overtaking them. Puzzling logic but clearly we don't need to look far to fill any gaps in recruiting traffic police
