Fake FMIC's
Intercooler - air-to-air rad for the intake charge.
Chargecooler - water-to-air rad (as above, but in a bath of water to take the heat out the charge).
Aftercooler - Something made up for people to talk about superchargers on S2000's.
How about this for a fake ..

Turbo?
Nope ..

Nope ..

An aftercooler cools the air after it has passed through a supercharger, on its way to the inlet manifold (via air / water cooler normally)
An intercooler is a turbo application, and generally air to air. For example on an Evo (front mount) or Impreza (top mount) external air is used to cool the air to the turbo - compressor side.

Most modern diesels are turbo so they will have some form of relief system.
I heard one on a 306 this morning. The owner had even removed all the oil burner logos too .. so he just had a small "Turbo" badge on the back.
Didn't stop it from sounding like a tractor (but then knowing Pugs that could have been a petrol
)
Lower - kind of, but then you could say in theory that supercharging and turbocharging is the same by forcing pressurised air into the engine - there are quite big difference in the how and why!

One does it via air over a rad, the other via water over a rad.
But kinda back on topic. Have you seen those fake brake disks for putting over your drums?
Fake brake discs! Holy shit. That would make my intercooler observation not so shocking.
There must be a good market for this sort of tat. Must think of some new ones...
