Interesting, even more so introducing F/I.

IMO 2.0 n/a vtec's dont cut it any-more in terms of performance, torque, emissions (running costs) etc.

Wonder if the turbo is just limited to the 1.6?, i doubt the 2.0 n/a will see the light of day.

There is a big market for this car with the right engine, I am unsure why they don't just drop the K20A into it. Seems Honda is in trouble and messed up the new civic, which is bound to cause a big drop in US and domestic sales. They have gone back to the drawing board on the design apparently, seems to have got uglier with each carnation since the EG series IMO.

MB this should be your next supercharged project car 285ps HKS

Useful luggage rack on the back, handy down B&Q.

I prefer the clean original

The K20A does not meet the new European emissions regulations, so is being withdrawn.

Not going to get into a debate over your superior web knowleage but I am pretty sure any engine can be reworked to get round the emissions even if in its current FN2 guise it fails. I am pretty sure Honda Japan would not make a decision based on fitting the K20A into this car on europe alone either, as domestic and North America count for a large chunk of their sales, although I have no figures on this vechicle I am sure you can enlighten us

Honda stopped making K20s a few months ago and there are no new engines left so I've been told.

I know for a fact (ie not speculation) that there is going to be a fast CR-Z and what engine it will use

Chris.

I was just recalling a story I saw back in the summer.

Here's the EVO version: http://www.evo.co.uk/news/evonews/255703/h...ivic_typer.html

As worldwide emissions regulations tighten, particularly with regards to NOx, turbo engines will be pretty much the norm.

With Obama in the Whitehouse, there has already been a push towards a reduction in emissions, and Honda being a big player in California, where emissions regs are tighter than in most of the USA, has to get on board to maintain sales.

Add in Honda's "commitment to the environment" and there's no way they'll use it in an "eco-car" like the CR-Z, even for the "hot" version.

Honda are already far behind many other manufacturers in this area, so need to start sooner rather than later.

EDIT: Chris has rather more succinctly explained why they won't be using K20s
