Finally got a replacement for the S
Following the premature death of my S I went into a CTR as my daily driver but after living with it for 3 months, I just can't get on with it. It's a nice car and all that but it's not a convertible and I find it heavy and it just doesn't make me smile like my previous S2000's have. So with a Euro Hoon looming in September (booked before death of S) I knew that I had to make a decision.
So Honda are buying my CTR back off me and we are chopping Mr CJ's 10 year old Golf in against it and I'm going into a sensible company car but at the weekend, I get to play in this:

Dealer hasn't listed a few of the options such as Sports Chrono Pack, so think we've got a good deal all in all but the main thing, it made me smile as soon as I started it up and pulled out the parking space, something the CTR has never done

Be interesting to hear your thoughts after using it for a while.
The original Boxster was one of the benchmark cars - if not *the* benchmark - when Uehara led the S2000 design into production from the SSM concept car. Although the fundamental difference between Porsche and Honda (in case you hadn't noticed
) became apparent with time: whereas Porsche upgraded the Boxster, apart from cosmetics and softening the hard-core nature, Honda didn't change the S2000 much in ten years of manufacture.Unlike more and more S2000 owners
I took it for a 20 minute test drive, which wasn't great in Enfield, London but managed to find some twisty bendies and promptly met a tractor and a line of traffic so didn't stretch its legs too much but first impressions, it felt so planted in the bends and the power was there regardless of the gear and the noise was just gorgeous. I'm not an exhaust noise person, but engine noise and it was beautiful. It was just nice to be back in a sports car that was easy to drive in heavy traffic and country roads. Will see if I still like it after the French trip in September.
I do however find the dash fussy and would much prefer the S dash without any of the gimmicks but I knew as soon as I got in it that I was going to buy it even though we walked away initially and then negotiated on the phone whilst on the A1 home
So he's in early for a service at Porsche and then they are delivering Herman (as he has been named).

very nice indeed, if 4 seats were not a requirement for me, then this would be top of my list... well a Cayman probably... as it is, when I can, I think I will be in the market for a similar ages 997.
Enjoy!

Moi aussi.
If you want to stretch Herman's legs a little, come up to the North Yorks pub meet next week....
In fact Mr Chilled, you should come along too - you're still in Leeds???
Sorry for thread hi-jack.

Dan, may well stretch his legs at the meet. It's in for a service this week and then machine polish etc before they deliver it so if it arrives in time, see you there.
Nick, that back drop probably saved us £3k over a Porsche back drop
