Fitting out a garage
Perhaps it might make sense to add some at floor height in a home garage? (One of course has to protect against hem being trodden on).
As I have no mains leccy in my garage, I've recently bought one of these: http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00QS88AAA which is pretty useful both under the bonnet or under the car.
A month ago we moved into a new house with a decent sized garage that i couldn't wait to get my hands on. Working on driveways is never fun and having a proper work space was defo a plus point.
When we moved in the garage was 5m x 6m and covered in dust. The mortar was all loose between the bricks so the first thing i wanted to do is seal the bricks with masonary paint and get the floor all swept up. It just so happens that we had some carpet from upstairs that i layed in the garage as a temporary solution.

The electrics were a mess. One rubber cable run from the back of the 32amp house ringmain. The cable has no protection as its 2.5mm and connected to a 32amp breaker so the cable would catch fire before the breaker trips. It runs down the length of the garden with no armoured protection. Where it entered the garage it was connected to a 4 port mains adapter..... Currently i have fitted a 3 breaker distribution box with RCD protection, 2 sockets, 2 x twin light fittings and a supply to the garage door opener.
Long term im hoping to fit 600w of solar panels to the flat roof along with some deep cycle batteries to delete the mains feed completely and have the garage off grid.
In terms of lighting the two twin tube fittings do a good job but with the bonnet up it shades the engine bay alot. Too fix this i have fitted 3x10w LED floodlights above the engine bay area so that its always well lit.

Im getting there and the next logically step is some decent flooring but cost is an issue so it will have to wait for a while
