Default Flashed by a speed camera

Driving back from Paris on the N184 last night - bit tired so not concentrating too much - got flashed by a speed camera hidden under a bridge - probably 20kph over the limit.

Anyone know:

If they are likely to follow this up on a UK plated car?

If they do, what the fine is likely to be?

Will this mean points on a UK licence?

If I do get a follow up what is the best way to play it (bearing in mind I do drive over to Paris regularly these days so ignoring the NIP and not taking the car back to France may not be an option)?

Anyone been here before?

Mike, I think it's a lengthy prison sentence, with regular 'sessions' with the local inmates.

I was flashed by one in Germany last year, and never heard anything. However somebody did tell me there was new legislation coming in that would mean you would get a fine and points on your UK licence if caught in an EU country.

But I don't know if that's true yet.

...and the prison guards are allowed to drive around the courtyard in your car, doing donuts and stuff

I got flashed in France last July and have not received anything. Figured it would have taken longer than normal but pretty confident that I have got away with it by now.

I went past a French speed camera at double the speed limit on the way back from Le Mans last year, it took a little effort to get to double the speed but we felt it was worth the effort.

IIRC they have not yet agreed to pass points / fines back to the UK to deal with yet, but I may be wrong. I know it has been agreed that it would happen at some point.

It was just some naughty french types claiming that it was you & trying to pervert the course of justice!

You've never been there!

No fine or points ..... yet ..... but it is coming in !

I think the most you will get is a letter but you will probably hear absolutely nothing as there is no agreement in place to enforce it.

Same here, though only a few klicks over the limit. Never heard anything. This website is useful: Speed cameras in France

Says As of now, only one country (Luxembourg) has agreed to share its car registration database with France. But I thought I read recently the DVLA / Government agreed to exchange (sell?) car owner details with other european countries, but not sure from when, so this might be changing.

Mega issues for DVLA with sharing details with overseas Police ref speeding. Principally DPA & the passing on of personal dets.

Got flashed about 9 times last year when we were drag racing along the front at Nice. Nothing heard.
