The M always has sidelights on, dipped beam only if auto'd or manual'd

i think

but i agree, its removing things for the driver which their judgement should be used for. Hence the fog lights in a mild mist that Chippo is annoyed by.

a few months back i had an altercation with a tatoo'd scally who's rear lights consisted of just a fog light. Nobber.

That's actually pretty accurate, guy here is always asking me about what's in the menus in my car and how he can control this and that and god knows what.. I really don't care!

If you turn the dipped beams on manually you can just leave it there, they just turn off when you turn the car off, rather than the annoying beep you get in the Hondas.

We FRED or rather Heinkel drivers are hijacking this thread to a certain extent but I quite like the auto setting: it alerts me to the light levels as regards other drivers' visibility when the light goes on. As for menus in the car, I was days the other week exploring to find out why my passenger mirror wasn't dipping any more when I engaged reverse. Er, it's a f*ckin driver's door handle switch you silly old fart nothing on the bloody menus at all

i do just leave it on auto if I'm honest. This is how my bikes have worked, having no sidelights.

I've been toying with the idea of tinting the light sensor in the Leg End, such that it becomes useful and not merely another FRED. Some sort of window-tinting film is what I was thinking.
