The Formula 1 Thread - 2015
Edge of the seat start to finish. :-)
That's a cracking circuit.
Well done to Lewis. If not there it would have been in Mexico. It's a shame Nico wasn't as gracious in defeat as Vettel. Didn't show himself in a good light there.
Loved the radio message..."we need the car for the next race" followed by the donuts.....

Don't lend Rosberg your teddy bear, he'll tear it's head off and throw it out of his Mercedes pram. What a poor and bitter looser.
OK not too subtle of Lewis to throw him his cap, but for him to throw it back at Lewis was just childish. and to refuse to take part in the champagne calibrations was so out of order.
He ought to be sacked or fined for making his team look bad, or do they support poor sportsmanship?

It was a fantastic race from start to finish. The changing conditions sorted the men from the boys once again, and it was nice to see some great battles. Ferrari vs Toro Rosso and Mercs vs Red Bulls early on. And towards the end McLaren's, Force India's, Toro Rosso's and a Red Bull thrown in for good measure. Lewis was lucky with that second safety car. Had that not happened I think he would have ended up 3rd behind Rosberg and Vettel.
Lewis is a worthy triple World Champion, and I hope Mercedes can carry this great form into 2016 and fight off the threat from Ferrari and Vettel. We don't want him winning another title.
Sometimes one mistake is all it takes. That's the difference between Champ & Chump
I'm not Nico's biggest fan, but I think anyone would be gutted at ending their slim chances of the World Championship because of their own unforced error. So I'm not surprised he was in a bit of a mood after the race, he's just more pissed off with himself than Lewis I suspect. He did congratulate Lewis afterwards in the "room of awkwardness".

While I do not like Rosberg much, it is hard to not feel sorry for him at times for a good deal of the mishaps, car failures (a la Russian GP) and just general race situation that have bumped him out of contention for the title. He has been the fastest during qualifying many times over, but come race day he often seems to get miffed over some way or another. But quite often it is also his less than aggressive style of racing when compared to Hamilton who is more game to push his team mate limits.
IMO, Hamilton is just as much a chump as Rosberg.

Prior to the hat throwing, Rosberg had been pretty magnanimous and obviously wanted to be on his own.
It was pretty insensitive of Hamilton tossing him the 2nd place hat (note that he handed Vettel the 3rd place hat, and he should have done the same to Rosberg. Still, I imagine that thinking these things through when you've just become world champion again is somewhat tricky.
Anyway, well done to Hamilton for moving to the right team and being the better driver, and what a fun race that was to watch.
Not too subtle indeed, he literally threw 2nd place in Nico's face
What surprised me was how Nico was so bummed. There was the world's smallest chance that he would be champion,
but the way he acted it looked like this was the final race of the season and it went down to the wire.
Vettel was much more dignified. I'm actually starting to like the guy, and I was more than fed up with him during his 'reign'.
He doesn't come across as that douche bag from previous years.
Having a kid and/or driving a not-so-competitive car has brought him down to earth.
With all the awkwardness between the merc drivers I usually look forward to hear what Vettel has to say post-race.

Still three races to go, and who would bet against Hamilton winning all of them?
Rosberg's saying it was a gust of wind, causing a decrease in downforce, that was the reason for him losing first.
L O L.
Hamilton had reduced the gap from himself to Nico in front by 8 tenths, from 2 seconds to under 1.2 seconds in the first half of lap 48.
Rosberg felt the pressure, ran his car on the wet and slippery curbs for too long, gave it too much throttle and lost the rear.
I felt it was silly when he after the race said he didn't understand what had happened, as if it was a problem with the car.
And now saying it was the wind's fault.. seriously.
I'm having a hard time believing that the readout of the potentiometers on the car will be accurate when the car is running over curbs, shaking like hell.
Has Merc fed Nico a bullshit story to keep him from imploding?
