The new format is rubbish. The only positive thing was that in the early stages of Q1 people got to take notice of the small teams which otherwise get zero attention from the cameras.

I can't believe how the business where the highest technology, budgets and simulations softwares exist could not predict that this would happen. They ought to be really ashamed.

I think it could have been good if the teams wanted it to be good.

I like that we got to see the extra footage of the drivers walking from their cars to the pr people and then to the interview room. Usually they go to commercial in the US for that stuff.

In a track like this (laptime close to 1m30s) it takes at least more than 3 minutes for a driver to go out and do a fast lap. Many drivers found themselves in a position where they simply knew they did not have time enough to try improving their laptime before the clock ran out for them. So many of the eliminations were already clear more than 3 minutes before the ticking of the clock.

Perhaps with an unlimited supply of tires it might be a bit better, but with limited tires it's rubbish.

Give it another chance. The teams will stew over where they screwed up and should make a better fist of it next time.

Then we'll see ...

I enjoyed that.

I won't spoil things for those less committed who didn't get up to watch the race live, but other than the farcical Qualifying session, that was a good weekend for Formula 1, and there's hope for a more competitive season ahead.

completely.

Not the best circuit for passing but clear signs that a more competitive season lies ahead and that Verstappen will test the bleeper to the limit ...
