Mark, the mini RR is the new eeF uck!

The F2 is a US Ford badge-engineered one, so it's less crap than the old Maestro van one.

I know a few who love their Discoveries and the tranny problems seem to be down to how you use them; abuse them in mud (like owners don't usually) & they're pretty good.

Treat it like a sales rep & the cogboxes explode.

On the Milf run, a Puke is probably a better bet, TBH.

We looked at both of these when we changed our X-Trail last March and wasn't impressed with either of them.

We had the top spec 'Aventura' dCi which was a great vehicle until is sprouted an oil leak from the turbo so it was time to get rid. We looked long & hard at many vehicles in this category including the Ford Kuga, Volkswagen Tiguan and the MY 07+ CRV which my wife didn't like and as it is her who mainly drives it I was fighting a losing battle!!

In the end we opted for a Toyota RAV4 T180 which we are very impressed with so far. It is the top spec so comes with full leather, satnav with bluetooth, keyless entry, smart start, reversing camera, 18" alloys, etc, etc, and a cracking motor that is used in the Lexus IS220d kicking out 180bhp and 295lbs/ft torque.

Turns out even the Puke has a lot of teething troubles. I wish Carlos the Goon (correct pronunciation apparently) would sort out these QC problems.

Yes, I have tried the Rav4 180, a very well specced car.

The X3 is ok, but nothing to write home about.

The Freelander 2 is lovely and enjoyed every minute of driving it.

Will have to decide. I will buy used but approved with warranty for extra peace of mind.

My brother has had a Rav4 180 for a couple of years ... no problems and loves it. Not an X3 or Freelander though IMO ... but that's not to say it may be a better buy

I have a discovery and the wife has an x trail,it depends
if you truly need to go properly off road.
The x trail has gone everywhere the landy has gone.
My discovery has more ground clearance
but the x trail has more room inside.
The x trail will probably never go off road we bought it
because we live in a rural area and prone to getting snow bound
I go on a Landrover forum and the Freelander is slated at every mention of one.
Landrovers are notoriously crap and expensive.
The mantra is you have to love the idea of being good with a spanner to own one.

The new PSA 2.2 engine is amazing as is the drive train, which has been proved with time and now finds itself in the new Range rover Evoque.

I had a beamer and did not like it.

I disliked the RAV 4's interior so much.

I like the Freelander 2.

Look at an x3.

Now look at an infected festering and necrotic wound.

I know which I'd rather look at.

But then again, a freelance is like a small Penis. Better than no Penis... but...

I would have bought the range rover HSE but in Malta the registration for it is astronomical.

That and the annual circulation tax.

So an approved Freelander 2 it is.

Picking it up next Monday.

Full 18 months warranty.
