Default French convertables

Over the Past couple of weeks I've been driving around with the top down and one thing I've noticed is that all the other convertables I pass have the tops down except the French cars. Every Merc, Bmw, MX5, Saabs etc all seem to have be enjoying the sunshine as all convertable owners should. But none of the French convertable have the tops down

Is it a case that the roofs don't work
