Apart from looking really dated, they seem to be ok (if a little slow!)

You want to avoid the tiptronic version as this is super-slow and get the manual GP-Version R (if you must have one!).

look at:

www.mivec.co.uk

www.mitsubishi-fto.org

(From mivec.co.uk) Usual stuff to go wrong is:

- Faulty central locking (easy and cheap to fix)
- Poor brakes, discs can warp easily (either skim them or preferably upgrade them)
- Battery not up to the job after a couple of years (change it for a beefier one. Nissan Micra battery is standard on the FTO!!)
- Badly behaving idle (the idle control valve or sensor is usually to blame here ... just need to clean them usually).

I had one.

It was great, didn't cost a lot so I was never worried about driving it hard.

Tiptronic isn't very good, manual gearbox is better and quicker though not so many of them around.

What would be wrong with a DC2 Integra Type-R?

A better car in almost every respect and available for that sort of price...

I had one too.

i still think they look good to be honest, but some getting a bit chavvy.

my front discs certainly were warped but not too expensive to upgrade - most owners do i think so look out for one.

I had a manual GR and it's quick enough and they corner with a lot of confidence.

a lot of good priced ones about

My mate had a GPX for about 6months. It was ok. It wasn't the fastest thing on the block, but it didn't pretend to be.

It cost him bearly anything to run so as a day to day car it did the job nicely.

If you want something that will make you smile, you could get a reasonable S14a 200SX for c

May be worth saving up and extra 1K to get a decent one I suppose.

It appears the FTO's are a solid reliable car. I'd be buying a car which will be roughly 10 years old so you always have the worry it will go wrong. Just want to make sure that if I do get one then its a good choice, I can get in, turn the key and it will start without any problems every time.

Wheres the issue deciding between the two ?
One is widely acknnowledged to be one of the best FWD cars ever. The other is mainly a jap imported car now owned by reprobates.
