Post GAME: If I were Honda CEO...

I would create a genuine upmarket division - not Acura (which has no coherent brand identity, as another poster has already pointed out).

That done, I would compete directly with the pompous German brands.

Take the Accord more upmarket, as a direct competitor to the 3 Series.

And build competition for the 5, 6 and 7 series too.

I would build a more powerful "S3000" and a

I'd pitch up at a Honda Institute day, promise to sort the suspension bush problem, get a promotion/move and hey presto, back to square one.

The S2000 would have gotten an extra 100bhp 6 years ago, and the only NSX you could buy would be a Type R.

Bada

I would have spent lots of money correcting all the **** ups (bushes / map problem / tearing roof / hubnut clicks & associated hub failure / discs siezing / alloys corroding / etc etc) on the S2000

Like said, I would upgrade the Accord a bit, but also offer more trims. More colour options and more interior colour options. A convertible option and a 3.5 - 4 litre beast with a mean bodykit, to compete M3s, RS4s etc. A few more engine options ie 2.0l, 2,5l, 3.0 l and the beast

The Type Rs would get a slight upgrade, FI maybe and AWD, to compete EVOs and STIs.

For the S2000, I would bring to life two bigger brothers, with the biggest being the roadster equivalent to the Accord beast. More aggressive bodykit, massive BHP, extrordinary handling etc.

The flagship would be a replacement NSX with with real Horsepower this time, but retaining it's nature, as a drivable supercar, loads of handling and ahead of it's competition.

In a perfect world, Honda would offer a car for everyone's needs maybe even a true offroader, for the nature lovers

Do I get the job

This is getting like ToV; people discussing the minutiae of the trim levels of a car as uninspiring (sic) as the Accord!

Whatever Honda launches; it needs lowering!

All this "create an upmarket brand" stuff riles me;

Yeah, I'd just abracadabra one with 100 years' heritage behind it.

As Rosengarten & Stuermer argued in "Premium Power", Honda itself almost meets the criteria to be a premium brand (except in US) and could be engineered into one.

Well, having seen a report in the paper this morning relating to Plod complaining about how poor their diesel Vectras are (it didn't need Morse to tell them that) and how they all want BMWs, if I were CEO, I'd point out that an Accord is a far better bet than a BMW for plod, and sell them loads.

The 3 series BMW and the A4 are both evenly uninspiring to the Accord. How about the M3 and the RS4 though? Also there is a huge market for 4seater convertibles. I'm not talking about the current Accord. I'm talking about a replacement that will meet the criteria for becoming a beast and also look good as a convertible
