Default Had a test drive in a nova

Well my little cousin has just got his first car, much to my dismay its a nova SRI! also which is ridicoulous and again much to my dismay it has an engine transplant a 160BHP calibra 2.0 16v.

Now that may not sound much but the car only weights 865KG yikes!

I have told my auntie its a ridicolous idea, why doest he get a 1.0 litre like everybody else, i fear for the kids safety i really do a nova isnt the most safe thing esp with that power.

Different sides of the family!! if it were my kid he been driving a 1.0 yaris! . Shes a bit stupid to be brutally honest!

I was actually intigued today when i was a kid they were starting to get phased out, i never liked them then and dont now. So i took it out for a test drive...

Yikes it torque steers in 2nd and is very fast and a bit unstable (to be fair the work isnt bad at all that been carried out on it) I think it would be very close or equal to a bog standard S if there were no corners involved . It has brake/suspension upgrades etc thank god. Around 190BHP per ton.

Anyways its look cack, handles cack and im not impressed with my auntie letting him that sort of car at that age. Its a chav dream!.

Rant over

heres a pic:

How is he going to insure it ?

Unless of course he doesn't inform them of the modifications and states it's a bog standard 1.3

I assume he's a provisional licence holder judging by the L plates

Sounds like a recipe for disaster

Its third party for a quite hefty sum!

He had money left from his grandad and decided to waste it

I dont know if its declared as a 1.3 or 2.0, i was meaning to ask but i forgot to.

I've actually got a bit of a soft spot for the old Nova.

I had a Nova GTE and an Astra GTE 16v way back when (both of which suffered from monumental torque steer which could break your wrist)

It looks quite standard from the pic (aside from the engine and other mods you mentioned).

At least it hasn't been subjected to the Halfords/ McDonalds car park treatment yet

Fingers crossed your cousin has a sensible head when it comes to driving (or wrestling with) the thing

Ste Nova might be interested in this. The name gives it away, I suppose.

Loads of these around my way, all bigger engines etc, but taxed and insured as bog standard 1.0/1.2's, somebody will come a cropper. Plod of course isn't interested in these guys though, far to easy to catch sitting in a car park comparing crappy cd's and spots.
