some people like them

Simply? I dont like the Z4, tried the "sensible" choice with the German 3 series, bored in 12 months. I like the S2000 and always have. Love Japanese reliability.

Need I go on?

Surely this is last place I need to be preaching the benefits of the Honda?

So what are you paying, there may be people interested in taking it over as you've taken the 'hit'?

Model details etc, some of us need family cars...............

im am sure you can hand it back 1/2 through the term without a fee (they obviously dont advertise the fact. my mate who works for a debt management company was telling me about this the other day, he intends to hand aback his ford focus using this method. worth looking into

They did state about voluntary termination (euthenasia anyone?) but that is when you have paid half the total cost I think which is some way off for me, unless your friend knows about some other option? That doesnt involve me knackering my credit rating

cheers

Although not as common as it used to be, voluntary termination is still used by a number of lenders and it does not just apply to cars. As has already been commented, you can terminate at any point after you have paid 1/2 the original finance amount. If you do your sums right and look after your vehicle, it can actually be a very cheap way of effectively leasing a car. I did exactly this on my previous car as i had no interest in keeping it long term, and the balloon payment kept the monthly installments lower than any other financing alternative.

Some of the subsequent posts to my one have been very helpful. I bought an ex-dem S2k in 2003 on a three-year lease with a stated mileage limit and a penalty for going over it. I assumed I would have the car for the full term and only started looking around for a replacement in September. The only cars on my shortlist were a used Cayman S (still v. expensive) and the new Z4 Coupe, and I knew I'd have to put down a hefty deposit to keep my monthly payments at the same level. So I enquired about a new S2k at a Honda dealer. I won't be specific because I wouldn't like to mis-quote the very helpful sales and finance people. But the upshot was that there was no penalty on the very excessive mileage, the trade-in price was great, I got
