Help with a problem on my GF's car
Hi guys,
Its had to diagnose problems over the internet but will give it a shot, maybe folk have ideas?. We have owned the car for around 2 years now.
My GF has a 2007 D4D yaris diesel, the car was fine for a couple of years then the clutch starting slipping at around 63k (1k ago) - depends how previous drivers have drove it but I'd expected it to last longer than that!, any ways I thought I'd check out service history (which i had done in the past but forgot the details) i was reminded that a new gear box was fitted around 35-40K, and a master cylinder failed about 8K ago (she drove around with a floppy pedal for a wee while! which probably didn't help the clutch!) . I think possibly with all the elements combined this clutch was almost on its way out and thus failed.
She had a new clutch fitted yesterday (bearing, housing/pressure and friction plate 3in1 basically a new clutch), the guy commented that the dealers must of damaged the thread on one of the gearbox bolt but it was safe and the rear engine mount had a bodge job where sort of silicone roughly cut out pieces had been jammed in, he asked if i had noticed any noises or knocks - which we haven't TBH.
He put it back together, changed fluid etc and said it should be okay but either get a new REAR engine mount or tiger seal it - I said i wasn't too keen on tiger seal but he said people think tiger seal is a bodge (which is kinda of is) but in all instance he's used it, it has been fine for years to come on many cars.
Now she drove the car 10miles through slow roads/housing estates not really booting it and it was fine yesterday, however today when booting up a steep hill when she was in 4th she heard a hissing noise then a pop and the same again in 5th, after this she backed off and drove it gently home in 4th. She says it changes gear completely fine and better than before plus not slipping. She says the noise appears to be coming from the back of the engine but hard to tell really.
The guy said it could be the clutch wearing in and he said she shouldn't boot the car as it takes 200-300miles to bed in and it could also be the mount as its on an angle going up a steep hill and when she changes gear the engine tilts and makes the noise - it seems plausible.
Unfortunately i cant drive yet, so I'm just going on what she told me.
Any views please?
Thanks

It's that Irish R & B singer, Miss O'Ginny!Actually, failed mountings are very common on VTi & Type-R Hondas; the rubber shears from the metal & often produces odd knockings on bumps, or engine shunt.
Burning them out & filling with squirty silicone is a widely-used cure. Think I'd prefer OEM hysterisis rates, but hey!
No real reason why a Toyota ought to be much different.
Just been out in it, its like a loud air/hissing noise (like when opening a window and air gushing past) then a squeal almost at the top of the rev range before shifting.
I'm thinking its maybe something to do with the turbo, but odd its happened when the clutch has been changed.
