Moving this to a thread of it's own as interested in others view.

Have been considering going electric for a while. My next daily drive will almost certainly be a hybrid at least.

Saw this in the flesh at GFoS and I love it. Have been uninspired by the crop of electric cars so far but this seems to have had some thought put into it (and not just because its another Honda for the stable). Loads of sensible tech in it - not just gimmicks - stuff that looks like it will be useful.

I would still want a petrol for those trips down to the Med and beyond so would have to run CRV and S2000 alongside it. But for local driving this seems to tick most boxes.

Will await UK pricing to decide whether to look at a new one, but have registered interest with Honda UK. Not sure how second hand would work out once they start hitting the market. Anyone got any experience with 2nd hand electric yet ? would like to know how many charge cycles the batteries could go through before their performance gets compromised.

And also cute enough for the wife to feel like driving it. :D

i agree Andy, i'm interested in the e.. i do short hops (school runs) and stuff only really. I commute on a bike and its <10 miles currently

i am concerned how they'll price it

Tesla 3 - too fugly
Tesla S - too pricey for my needs
Tesla X - too big for UK roads though i really did like it
All Tesla's i wonder if something goes wrong how easy they are to sort

Jag iPace - too pricey and i cant stand flakey reliability
Nissan Leaf - pondered but our current Nissan drives me nuts.. still a maybe
BMW i3 - horrific ride, worse styling

Range? Weight? Need to know if this could replace the W451 Smart cabrio behind our motorhome :)

Range is not good on these, and apparently pricing is going to be around £35k.

I'd love to have a go (looking forward to killing the battery in one run up & down the A507) but it presently makes zero sense when you could have a CTR for about the same money.

our family car does 8k miles per annum
a CTR does 30mpg
insurance is comparable

that's 266 gallons at 30mpg in a CTR
yesterday i paid 145.9p per litre for v-power
£6.62 per gallon
£1760 for fuel for the year
Tax £325
Total £2,085

64 charges of an e @ 32kwh
12.5p per kwh (they are pretty much 100% efficient i believe)
£256
tax £0
able to use bus lanes :)

now roll that over 10 years and you are talking £20k vs £2.5k.. obviously there are a lot of variables i've not tried to take into account including the fact that the CTR retails at 33k+ and the e is expected to come in around 28k. servicing will be much cheaper, in theory, on the electric car too
they arent really comparable but it was interesting to tot up. even if the e charging is less efficient it's still very cheap to run by comparison and you can install a charger at home and never visit the petrol station in it.. it appeals to me, zero emmissions, cheap to run, quick enough for a family runabout and covers 98% of our use on this tinchy island and a tiny turning circle for amusement. plus it's correct wheel drive ;)

This honda is different segment, and yeah a bit pricey perhaps
