Default Hot Weather + Bikers

Now the weather is blessing us on a more frequent basis...it's time for the d1ckheads to start ditching their leathers/textiles in favour of beachwear.

I'm an ex biker myself (really want another!), and never went out on 2 wheels unless I had ALL the right gear on, in spite of hot weather.

It's not just the Mopeds either... a chap on an ST1300 had shorts, T shirt, flip flops and no gloves

Would it be a good idea for the law to change and up the amount of gear that must be worn when on a Motorbike?

If they have no regard for their safety, they sure as hell won't have any for ours

like a legal requirement for full leathers would fix that

but yes - very silly and im not a biker.
have fallen off a few push bikes and that was painful. cut knee up sommat rotten going not very fast on a gravel track...
i can only imagine the pain falling off onto tarmac, let alone on a powered bike!

i've seen a fair few bikers recently, pretty sure they've been wearing leathers; they've been going far too fast to tell though.

That's a very good point.

Most bikers tend to be really good on the road, but I am amazed at the amount who have cropped up wearing feck all.

Personal choice & theirs to make.
Smacks too much of more nanny stateism. We need less legislation not more.

Is it also their choice to drain NHS resources because they have de-gloved their limbs when they crash?

Just got back from the States, and not a single biker was wearing more than T shirts and shorts.

Crazy.

As much as it is as anyone who goes out drinking and gets into fight, or someone who crashes when speeding, or a smoker requiring cancer treatment, or anything else that could have been avoided.

Having had a crash without gloves on and made a little mess of my hand I never go anywhere on the bike without all my gear on.

I still reckon the treatment I had cost less than the treatment my dad had after a car crash. Perhaps car drivers should have to wear body armour by law.

If it wasn't for my knox back protector I'd be in a wheelchair or dead right now. The consultants also said my leathers helped save me too. I knew the risks involved, so I made sure I had the right kit and I didn't skimp on the quality and #### me am I glad I did!!

I am amazed at the standard of dress for a small majority of the bikers around here however I see it as Darwinism at work.

Shorts + flip-flops + GSXR 600 = your not going to last very long.
