Default I got the bus today.....

To cut a long story short I had to drop a car off in Altrincham today (story for another thread it wasn't the Maser which is fine) and figured I would use public transport to get back.

I only live around 15-20 minutes away and less than 10 miles from Altrincham but you can't get a train but there is a bus. So I figured I'd use that.

My thoughts:
1) Bus stations or interchanges whatever are a) full of 'deadlegs', old people and school kids.
2) How cheap is the bus ? No wonder they make sod all money. A single trip cost

It's a mad, mad industry.

The bangernomics ones only make sense because of the fuel rebates.

If they got rid of those red things in London, the traffic would be vatly imporved.

I get the bus sometimes when I go to play snooker at around 20.30 on a Thursday evening. Nobody on it but me. It's like having your own personal tour-bus. Except it smells bad.
So, yeah, like my own personal tour-bus.

Gritty,

I think you'll find there's a few other amenities on a tour bus, not available in yer average Dennis Dart.

I enjoy getting the bus every now and then - makes me appreciate my car even more.

The bus from my house to town has to go through a housing estate (which they've now decided is that bad they are tearing it down) but I use to find the people that got on rather entertaining - a whole sub-level of human being - mothers shouting at their snotty nosed children who just come up to you and stare at you, or the young lads pretending they are cool and honestly didn't trip up the step and get on shouting and swearing either at someone they've left standing at the bus stop or a mate on the upper deck. And the girls that sit there saying 'get out of it', 'nooooo', 'for sure', 'whatever'.

It's like a Catherine Tate show roled up in one little journey all for the sum of

We have a 1/24 Routemaster in the cabinet.

A superb piece of advanced british engineering, complete with retro styling: I could wax earical about its felicitations.

Superb urban transportation for TC Mits, but I'm not he.

Used to watch them training LT Busdrivers in Routemasters on their Skidpan in Chiswick which was overlooked by one of our offices in the 1980's. Amazing how stable they were, >90 degree slides, everytime you expected them to go over. as you say great engineering.

I enjoy bus journeys in London, always prefer them to the tube, top deck is great for a bit of sightseeing on the world.

I've not been on a bus in years. I wouldn't have a clue what one to get where.
